CoVid-19 Testing

There is a lot of information so we have summed how the testing works.

PCR / Nasal Swab Tests

  • Molecular test
  • Analyzes a sample taken via swab from deep inside the nose or the back of the throat
  • Taken at the early stages of infection
  • Can tell whether a person currently has the condition, but not whether a resolved patient previously had the condition
  • Requires special equipment
  • Timing varies by manufacturer

Antigen Nasal Swab Tests

  • Performed in a point-of-care setting
  • Identifies the virus after symptoms have started (or should have started, if the patient is asymptomatic)
  • Taken between days 5–10 for best results
  • Easy for health care providers to administer
  • Performed with a nasopharyngeal swab
  • Works in a point-of-care setting

Antibody/Serology Tests

  • Performed in a point-of-care setting
  • Identifies antibodies in blood drawn from a finger stick
  • Can be administered as early as 5 days after symptoms develop
  • Results are available in 10–15 minutes
  • This type of serology testing, when combined with other patient information, can help providers determine if a patient can proceed with normal, daily life
  • Serology/antibody tests detect antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus
  • The tests do not identify the presence of the virus itself and should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection.
  • Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E

Self Assessment and Monitoring

All subjects begin enrollment through questionnaire:

  • detect COVID-19 symptoms
  • identifies co-morbidities

Subjects are prompted to update questionnaire weekly.

All Information collected in the enrollment process is treated as Protected Health information for privacy and security concern.

All questionnaire are then reviewed by the network of providers.

Fever and Symptom Monitoring

Subjects that work/travel through facilities that are at high risk for contagion spread will be subject to temperature taking.

Why Temperature?

Temperature Testing is a very simple thing to do, and can identify a potential viral infection when a high temperature is present. There are 30+ dependable manufacturers with adequate supplies to enact a national temperature monitoring program.

CoVid-19 Testing

At the moment there are 2 layers  to CoVid-19 testing:

  • Rapid Tests
  • PCR Tests

Rapid tests must be confirmed with a PCR testing therefore any program must have multiple levels of testing  available to all subjects.

We are fully integrated into AccessDX, a lab testing operation located in Texas to confirm through  a more thorough PCR test any positive result.
