Are pediatricians available for RethinkMyHealthCare virtual visits?

Absolutely! Pediatricians are available in nearly every state. If a pediatrician is not available in your state, family practice doctors are available and specialize in caring for children as well.

Which age groups can be treated through RethinkMyHealthCare virtual visits?

RethinkMyHealthCare virtual visits are available to children of all ages, from infants to teenagers.

Are there restrictions on what RethinkMyHealthCare online pediatricians can treat?

RethinkMyHealthCare virtual visits are not appropriate in the following scenarios:

  • Fever in any child under 3 years of age
  • Urinary tract infections (UTI) in any child under 18 years of age

Our providers can evaluate ear pain, which can be due to several conditions; however, MDLIVE providers cannot prescribe antibiotics for ear infections in children under 12 years of age. Antibiotics may be needed for severe cases of bacterial ear infections, which require in-person care.

Sophie (our A.I. powered chatbot) will guide you through a brief triage process before you request a visit for your child. If a virtual visit is not appropriate for your child’s symptoms, you’ll be directed to in-person care.

What are the most common conditions treated by RethinkMyHealthCare pediatricians?

Our doctors treat more than 100,000 children every year and can help with more than 80 common conditions, including:

How do I request a virtual visit for my child?

Having an RethinkMyHealthCare virtual pediatric visit is quick and easy.

  1. Sign up for an RethinkMyHealthCare account for yourself as your child’s parent or legal guardian.
  2. Add your child or children to your account as dependents.
  3. Complete your child’s health profile.
  4. Click on your child’s profile to provide information about their symptoms. Then you can either start a visit or schedule one for later.

Can RethinkMyHealthCare send a record of my child's virtual visit to their regular pediatrician?

Yes. Just add the doctor’s information to your child’s profile, and you’ll have the option to share a record of your child’s virtual visit. If you select this option, a record will be sent automatically after your appointment.

Can an RethinkMyHealthCare pediatrician see more than one child in a single visit?

Unfortunately, no. Each child needs to have their own profile, complete with their medical history, and visits are made through that profile. If you want to have appointments close together, it is sometimes possible to schedule back-to-back visits with the same RethinkMyHealthCare pediatrician.

How do I make sure that my child sees a pediatrician or a family medical doctor?

When you’re setting up your child’s virtual visit, you can select the type of doctor you’d like. Once you pick, you’ll see a selection of doctors and can start a visit with the first available doctor or schedule an appointment for later. After that, you’ll describe the reason for your visit and chose whether you want a phone consultation or an online video visit (if available).

Can a doctor accurately diagnose and treat my child through a virtual visit?

Our formula includes:

Do RethinkMyHealthCare pediatricians take virtual visits after hours?

Yes. Pediatricians and family medicine doctors are generally available 24/7 on weekdays, weekends, and holidays in most states, and there are no extra fees for after-hours service.

Are my child's electronic health records kept private?

Yes. Keeping our patients’ information private and secure is our top priority, and all records are completely confidential. We use robust encryption methods to protect the Personal Health Information (PHI) of all patients in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Can RethinkMyHealthCare help my child with behavioral health issues?

Yes, our behavioral health professionals can treat childhood and adolescent issues. Children 10-years-old and older can be seen by an RethinkMyHealthCare psychiatrist or therapist with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Does a parent or legal guardian need to be present during a visit with a therapist or psychiatrist?

Yes, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the start of each session to consent to the visit. The provider will then determine if they need to stay for the rest of the session.

Are follow up behavioral health visits usually required?

No, but they may be recommended. Most patients, including children, benefit from multiple sessions with a therapist. This allows your child to form a relationship with their therapist, which generally contributes to a better outcome overall. Your therapist will advise on follow up sessions on a case-by-case basis.

Do RethinkMyHealthCare providers speak other languages besides English?

While some providers speak different languages, RethinkMyHealthCare is currently only available in English and Spanish.

RethinkMyHealthCare online pediatric visits are an easy way to see a pediatrician without leaving home. Remember, before you can speak with a doctor, you have to sign up for an account and create profiles for your children. And if you have any other questions, we’re here to help.
